It’s simple; the secret is in the handle! Lashes are so important; after all they frame the windows to your soul and are the epitome of femininity. For years make-up artists have known that the best way to apply mascara is in a zig-zag motion, well now you can own that expertise with new Sonic Boost Vibrating Mascara.

It’s so clever it delivers *8000 micro vibrations and together with the formula, helps you create lashes that look separated, extended and multiplied.

Here’s how you can Vibrate, Separate, Captivate

Step 1:
Bring the wand up to the lash line, starting on the upper lid at the base of the lashes. Simply twist to activate the brush’s side-to-side vibrations

Step 2:
Use slow, straight, steady upwards motions to move through your lashes. Do not wiggle the brush. The vibrating action of the brush will do all the work.

Step 3:
Apply Sonic Boost to your lower lashes. The automatic zig-zag motion will make you feel like you’ve got a personal makeup artist!

Get the festival look

Jackie Tyson, celebrity makeup artistHi, for those of you who don't know me, I'm Jackie Tyson, Avon's celebrity makeup artist. I wanted to drop you a line and tell you how much I love the festival season and this one has been the hottest in living memory (apart from the little bit of rain in Scotland at T in the Park – sorry, Scotland!). So when Avon asked me to create a festival look using some of their great products I was thrilled!

I thoroughly enjoyed working on our festival look, especially as my daughter Charli was staring as our model. I also worked with Anthony Barrow; it was such fun, he truly is a creative hairdresser.

Hopefully I got my health and safety message over to you about the SPF in the MagiX Face Perfector which will save your skin from sun damage! This is so important at festivals; it is the most outdoor exposure my teenagers get all year so I want them to stay protected.

Remember what I said: festival make-up is all about going crazy with colour so make sure you get experimenting. If you’re going to any festivals this year, have fun and create your make-up look to express your personality.

Personally, I am going to Lovebox this weekend to see Grace Jones perform and I am already planning a strong look!

Take care everyone!

Introducing Anthony Barrow

Anthony said…
"It's easy to get the polished, sleek and straight look without slaving over the straighteners," and went on to say  "Lotus Shield's light-weight formula leaves hair looking moisturised and sleek, it's an essential part of my kit when I'm backstage at catwalk shows."

He understands that it can be tricky to recreate the salon professional finish, so he wanted to create a video that enables him to share his knowledge, experience and techniques he’s mastered through the years. This informative video talks you through how to achieve the prefect blow dry! Enjoy!

Anthony's Perfect Blow Dry

Top Tip on how to apply Lotus Shield
Shake well before use and then apply a ½ teaspoon or pea sized amount of product to clean, damp hair and distribute hair. For longer hair, increase product amount gradually until you experience the desired results. Style as usual with your favourite styling products. Suitable for all hair types.

Meet the rest of the stylists and find out how you can double your hair's volume, cleanse, build, boost and lock your look in place with Advance Techniques products. View our styling videos to get the look!

I love Fergie’s look in the Outspoken TV advert. To achieve the look for yourself, ensure that your base is matte. Use Avon’s cream to powder foundation, which will keep your face looking matte all day.

Fergie’s cheeks are extremely contoured. Feel for your cheek bone with your fingers and the fine line underneath it – that’s where your blush needs to go. Use russet true colour blush to sweep along this line, ensuring that you keep to this angle to get a great result. If you panic that you’ve got too much of a contour or have used too much colour, a good way to rescue it is to blend a loose powder into it. Use a loose or set powder brushed over the top of your cheeks, that will take the edge off. Dust it in circular motion over the contour to make it look more natural.

For your eyes, line all the way around the eye with Supershock gel eyeliner in steel, which is really long lasting. If you’re looking for extra drama, you could use the eyeshadow palette in mocha or latte as well. Use the dark colour across the lid and wing it out past the far edge of the eye. Blend the medium taupe colour into the eye socket, and then use the pale shade as highlighter on the brow bone. The eyebrows are really important with this look and they have to look immaculate. Avon’s new Pro-brow enhancer will do the trick. Then of course finish with lashings and lashings of Supershock mascara or SuperExtend Mascara.

On the lips, keep them nude. I like to use a nude lipliner all over the lip (not just to line it), which will make the colour last longer. Then use a lipbrush to apply ultra colour mega impact lipstick in nude. This will give it an even finish. Mega impact has quite a dewy finish so you should not need lipgloss as well. That said, if you’d like to add a bit of volume, add a dab of Glazewear Sparkle in the middle of the bottom lip and on your cupid’s bow – it’s the perfect finish.

Well it's been a busy few weeks for me, with lots more exciting work to come.

Jackie Tyson

I'm currently working with the Sugababes as their make up artist.. I've been working with them for a few months now, and they really are lovely, and great fun too. We spent last weekend in Monaco where the girls were performing at several events around the Grand Prix. One of the highlights was ensuring that they looked beautiful for Elton John's fundraising ball, which Liz Hurley, Rachel Hunter and David Furnish also attended.

I'm also in meetings to discuss my work with ITV's Britain's Got Talent. I did the make up for the final contestants last year - it was a very exciting week with so much adrenalin flying around. It was great working with Susan Boyle, but I had absolutely no idea who would win until the winner was announced. It will be brilliant to be involved again this year - I can't wait.

Check out my video tutorial on how you can create that key look.

I’ll be writing another later on this week about Fergie and how you can create her style. What do you think about her makeup look and is it something you’d like to try?
